The Law Society’s new quarterly in-house digital magazine ‘In the House’ has issued. The first edition features interviews, information about the Law Society’s in-house events, relevant CPD and in-house legal vacancies.

Voting is still open for the 2025/26 Law Society Council Elections until 5pm on Thursday 16 October. There are 19 candidates confirmed for 16 places in the general election. All nominated candidates are listed on the ballot on the voting platform, including all canvassing materials. Voting is quick, secure, and exclusively electronic.

The compliance function has oversight of the rules that are integral to the culture and behaviour of any organisation. Successfully engaging compliant behaviour involves effective communication and technology combined. David Cowan encourages you to get your GRITTS.

The Law Society Library has released its latest subject guide covering Legal Research and Writing Skills. This guide includes information on books, journals, primary sources of Irish law including case law and legislation and other useful resources.

Law Society Psychological Services has launched an initiative designed to grow a purpose-driven network of active culture influencers and professional wellbeing advocates across the legal profession. The Well Within the Law Affiliate Programme is open to anyone working within the Irish legal sector.

Training

Law Society Skillnet presents the live webinar ‘Sustainable High Performance for In-house’, taking place online from 12.30pm – 1.30pm on Wednesday, 12 November. In our demanding work cultures many of us are operating in an unsustainable state of burnout. But there’s a better way - a path to resilience that unlocks the highest performance without sacrificing your wellbeing. One-hour professional development and wellbeing CPD available.

Taking place on 20 November, Solicitor Training Contracts in the Public Sector Symposium aims to provide practitioners in the public sector with guidance on how employing trainee solicitors in their organisations may be of benefit and to explain what is required to establish a successful solicitor training programme.

A range of Law Society Professional Training and Law Society Skillnet courses in late 2025 and early 2026 offer in-person, live online and online on-demand CPD courses. Topics covered include dispute resolution, time management,  AI and cybersecurity.
