In order to access and download the member logo, you must have a current practising certificate and membership of the Law Society.

About the logo

The logo features an image of Lady Justice - blindfolded and proudly holding aloft the scales of justice. It has been designed for use on firm stationery, websites, solicitor member business cards and various other marketing materials. It represents the benefits and protections clients enjoy every time they use a solicitor. Accordingly, it is a symbol of trust, knowledge, regulation, insured protection, professionalism, qualification and legal learning.

Use of the logo is entirely voluntary. Solicitor members and their firms can choose to use the logo on firm stationery, websites, solicitor member business cards and various other marketing materials. You will see that there are two versions of the logo: ‘Practising Solicitor’ and ‘Practising Solicitors’. Solicitor members and firms may choose whichever version best suits their practice and existing branding.

Only qualified solicitors with a current-year practising certificate who also hold current membership of the Law Society are permitted to use the logo. Should the individual at any time cease to hold a current PC or membership, they must immediately remove the solicitor member logo from all of their communication materials.

Qualified solicitors working in the service of the State who are not required to hold PCs are permitted to use the logo if they are also current members of the Law Society.

To protect its integrity, all uses of the solicitor member logo must be in accordance with the brand guidelines which outlines precisely how the logo should be displayed.

Background

The logo was professionally designed by Red Dog and it incorporates elements of the Society’s logo while being distinct and separate. 

The development of the logo was proposed at the Annual General Meeting of the Law Society in November 2015. A Working Group was established to consider the proposal and later, consulting with the wider membership through an online poll, to choose the final design. This design, which was preferred by more than 50% of the online voters, was subsequently approved by the 2016 AGM.
