Assessment

Core written modules for the PPC I (i.e. Applied Land Law; Probate & Tax; Business Law & Litigation) are assessed through end of course examinations. The end of course examinations will take place in Dublin. The provisional dates for those examinations are Monday 11 October 2021 through to Thursday 14 October

In-office training

As with all applicants, all PPC Hybrid applicants must have secured a training contract with a training solicitor. This training, known as the in-office training period, typically has duration of 24 months and commences after completion of the PPC I. A range of useful resources to assist in the process of finding and securing a training contract is available on our website: www.lawsociety.ie/becomingasolicitor

PPC Hybrid trainees have an advantage of being able to potentially engage in employment during the PPC I. If that employment is with the training solicitor or any other practising solicitor then you may accrue partial credit of up to five-months for in-office training occurring during the PPC I. (This is in addition to any credit that might apply if you are entitled to credit for in-office training with your training solicitor or another practising solicitor immediately prior to starting PPC I).

PPC II (online and on-site, July 2022 – October 2022)

The PPC II Hybrid will be delivered in the same blended learning format. Recorded online lectures will be released on an incremental basis and will be made available in play on demand mode throughout the term. Onsite face-to-face tuition weekends will be supplemented by ‘live’ online tuition weekends.

Before you can be admitted onto the PPC II course you must have been declared by the Education Committee to have passed your PPC I. Where you have not passed the PPC I, you continue training in your office. Once you have passed the PPC I repeat you can apply to be admitted to the following year’s PPC II course.
