Identification of deponents

The Law Society Litigation Committee has published an update on the jurat requirements when filing affidavits.

Published:

Practitioners should note that the jurat of any affidavit sworn should contain wording which specifically states that the document the solicitor relied upon to identify the deponent contained a photograph of the deponent.

The Central Office may refuse to file affidavits that do not comply with this requirement

The Courts Service has updated the precedent affidavit and a copy of it can be found on the Courts Service website.
