Supreme Court Legal Assistance/Legal Representation Scheme
Applications are open for the Supreme Court Legal Assistance / Legal Representation Scheme panel.
Background
The panel was established in November 2016 and consists of solicitors and barristers are willing to act, if requested by the Supreme Court, for unrepresented persons who are parties to appeals. It is designed to enable access to justice by ensuring that parties to cases that have reached the threshold to merit an appeal can benefit from professional legal advice.
How to apply
Solicitors who would like to apply to join the panel should email their name and solicitor number to solicitorservices@lawsociety.ie.
Applications are requested by Thursday 12 December. Legal advice and representation will be provided pro bono to users of the Scheme by the panel of volunteer solicitors and barristers. However, you will be entitled to apply for costs at the conclusion of the appeal. The Supreme Court will determine an application for costs based on existing legal principles.
