May the workforce be with you
Strong foundations make for an unbreakable legal team and a new groundbreaking study from the Law Society certainly backs this up.
The Law Society is inviting all solicitors to the launch of Wellbeing at the Foundation of the Legal Profession: Research & Insights, a study examining the impact of counselling on trainee solicitors over nearly a decade. This important event explores how early psychological support is shaping the future of legal practice.
The research draws on anonymised feedback from over 500 trainees who used the Law Society’s free counselling service over eight years. It shows that counselling at the earliest stages of a legal career supports trainees in transitioning into high-performing professionals – and fosters long-term professional development too.
Counselling boosts resilience
This study marks a huge cultural shift in how mental health is perceived within the legal profession. These trainees reported using counselling during times of stress, as you would expect – but also proactively for personal insight and development. Psychological support is a normal and constructive part of professional life, and this holds true in the legal world too.
