The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on ‘Social Media and the Law’, starts on Tuesday 30 May 2023.

About MOOCs

MOOCs are free online courses open to all and are part of the Law Society of Ireland’s Public Legal Education initiative.

The MOOC will consist of online recorded and streamed presentations, together with interactive discussion forums and quizzes that allow participants to engage directly with our expert presenters.

With lectures being released over a 5-week period, this year’s MOOC will provide participants with a comprehensive guide to the key social media issues arising in the context of changing Irish and EU regulations, together with an examination of other key social media developments and trends.

What will you learn?

Expert speakers, media lawyers and academics will examine many topics including:

  • Online safety legislation (Online Safety and Media Regulations Act 2022),

  • Online harassment and trolling,

  • Disinformation/ fake news,

  • Child safety online,

  • Social media in the Courts context,

  • Social media and employees

  • ChatGPT, and much more!
