AmTrust to withdraw as PII insurer
AmTrust International Underwriters DAC have taken the decision not to continue as a participating insurer in the Irish solicitor’s professional indemnity insurance (PII) market after 30 November 2018.
AmTrust cover
Any firm covered by AmTrust will need to seek an alternative insurer in the 2018/2019 PII renewal.
Naturally this is an unsettling occurrence. However, AmTrust have confirmed that claims and/or circumstances should still be notified to AmTrust and AmTrust will continue to meet its obligations as a participating insurer.
Firms currently covered by AmTrust are advised to contact their broker regarding possible alternative insurers that they may wish to seek a quote from for the 2018/2019 renewal.
Preparing for renewal
The common proposal form for 2018/2019 is currently being finalised and is expected to be published before the end of September 2018. It is not expected that the form will be significantly different from the current form which can be accessed on the Society’s website - view the current common proposal form.
All firms are advised to begin the process of collating the necessary information for the form in advance of the renewal.
Helpful information on preparing for a PII renewal can be found in the Guide to Renewal.
