Registration will take place from 9:15am at the Law Society. You’ll need to confirm your donation amount by:
- Showing your iDonate profile. The easiest and quickest way to do this is to display money raised on iDonate on your phone
or
- Making payment on the day via iDonate QR code payment or credit card.
The run starts at 11am. Please arrive early to register and receive your timing chip, and take part in the warm-up.
Although we don’t have a registration fee, we do suggest a minimum of €120 per entry. This is the largest charity event in the legal sector, after all! To meet our target and support our charity partners, The Hope Foundation and Dublin Simon Community, to continue providing vital homelessness services, we really encourage you to make the effort. Thanks for taking part.
The Calcutta Run starts and finishes at the Law Society at Blackhall Place.
The 6km and 10km routes share the same course until the Phoenix Park.
Both routes take a left hand turn down Spa Road from the North Road in the Phoenix Park. Both routes continue straight on Spa Road past the polo club until Chesterfield Avenue.
At this point, the 6k runners take a left hand turn onto the outside footpath on Chesterfield Avenue and make their way back to Blackhall Place.
When the 10k runners reach Chesterfield Avenue, they take a right hand turn onto the inner footpath and continue on this path up to Mountjoy Cross where they turn onto the outside path and make their way back down Chesterfield Avenue and back to Blackhall Place.
Look out for our stewards and signs at all points on the route.
Of course. Many of the participants walk or jog and there are a few hundred serious runners.
Yes, there will be three water stations at approximately 3km, 6km and 8km marks as well as at the finish line. Please also ensure that you bring your own water as well.
Yes, there is a marker at each kilometre. Please note that the course is slightly longer than 10km (10.3km) so if time is important to you take your time at the 10km marker (junction of Arbour Hill and Ardree Road) but continue running or walking to Blackhall Place.
A 10km mat will also be placed at the 10km mark for your time to be recorded on the Pop Up Races website: https://www.popupraces.ie/race-status/finished/
There is no parking available at Blackhall Place on the day. However, there is ample parking available in the Q Park Smithfield car park with an entrance on Queen Street and the adjacent area https://www.q-park.ie/en-gb/cities/dublin/smithfield/. The Smithfield Parkrite car park is open from 7am on the morning of the run.
Directions:
North: drive down Queen Street, entrance 150 meters from where you enter Queen Street on left.
South: cross the James Joyce bridge (white bridge), drive past law society, take next turn right, then next turn right into queen street and entrance is 150 meters on the left.
Luas: Take the red line to Smithfield or Collins Barracks. Blackhall Place is a 5 minute walk from both stops.
Bus: You can take the 41 or 41a from the airport and swords direction. Both will bring you to Dorset Street. You can walk from there or travel to the quays and take the Luas to Smithfield or Collins Barracks. From Blanchardstown and Ongar Direction take the 39 or 39a. From Maynooth, take the C3/C4 and take the C1/C2 from Lucan.
Parking: A multi-storey carpark in Smithfield can be accessed from Queen Street.
Bike: For those on rented bikes, there are Dublin Bike stands available close by at Blackhall Place, Collins Barracks, Houston Bridge north, Parkgate Street, and Smithfield.
Train: Blackhall Place is 10 minutes’ walk from Heuston Station.
Yes, there is a supervised bag drop area but you should note that all bags are left at the owner’s risk.
There are no changing rooms or showers. However, the bag drop rooms are suitable for changing.
Yes, the more the merrier. There will be a small cost for non-runners. There will be plenty of kids’ prizes and entertainment including games and face painting at the finish line festival.
Absolutely! Every year, a growing number of participants bring their dogs to join in the run.
The show must go on! Unfortunately, we have no facility to shelter 1,500 runners so bring your rain gear if the weather forecast suggests it is needed.
