The Law Society of Ireland provides training courses for trainee solicitors as part of their pre-qualification training (the professional practice courses). To assist with the provisions of these courses, the Law Society wishes to recruit a Course Executive.
The successful candidate will have a legal background (preferably as a practising solicitor) and an interest in education.
Duties include the co-ordination and running of selected course subjects on the Professional Practice courses, the engaging of teaching teams, organisation of course material and examinations, organisation of extracurricular skills, competitions and planning of syllabi. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the teaching of course subjects and to correct examination papers. Computer literacy and a range of professional experience are desirable; though the Law School also welcomes specialist skill and experience. Familiarity with accounts management would an advantage.
Terms and condition will reflect the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The position is for three years It is a part-time role of three days per week. Please note there may be a requirement to work the occasional Saturday.
Main duties and key responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry out the following duties in line with the Society’s standards and strategic objectives and as directed by the Head of the PPC and the Director of Education.

- Competitions and planning of syllabi
- Contribute to the teaching of course subjects and to correct examination papers
Knowledge and skills
- Have a legal background (preferably as a practising solicitor) and an interest in education
- A range of professional experience is desirable; though the Law School also welcomes specialist skill and experience
- Computer literacy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail
- An ability to work on his/her own initiative and as part of a team and be proactive in achieving project outcomes
- Diplomatic and professional communication skills
- Excellent IT skills
- A proactive approach with a can-do-attitude to work
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
