This seminar is open to Accountant and Notaries Public and will create an opportunity for Irish, Spanish and Italian lawyers, accountants and notaries to network with a view to sharing knowledge and challenges for the mutual benefit of their clients over lunch and at the training breaks.

Aim and Objectives

The aim of the seminar is to alert practitioners to any pitfalls and risks that may be incurred by their clients in carrying out real property transactions and/or activities relating to wills and probate and insolvency proceedings, focusing on mortgage default, management company arrears and property taxes by giving an overview of the main issues of law, procedures and actions/remedies available in Italy and Spain. This seminar is open to Accountant and Notaries Public and will create an opportunity for Irish, Spanish and Italian lawyers, accountants and notaries to network with a view to sharing knowledge and challenges for the mutual benefit of their clients over lunch and at the training breaks.

The objective is that Irish practitioners are in a position to give broad advice to their clients in relation to property in Italy and Spain: whether buying or selling property, passing on the property by will or otherwise and in relation to any Insolvency issues that may arise in relation to the property.

Speakers and Moderators

Alessandro Gaglione, Alessandro is a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales and an Italian Lawyer. Founder of SLIG EDUCATION, he is currently Partner of SLIG LAW LLP (www.sliglaw.com), an Anglo-Italian law firm with dual-qualified and bilingual Solicitors and Avvocati.

Maurizio Dioguardi, Italian qualified lawyer in Italy and Abogado in Spain, is founder and partner of the Dioguardi International Law firm, based in Rome and Madrid. Maurizio specializes in family and property law, international commercial law and arbitration in Italy, Spain and Latin-America. Maurizio is founder and partner of Inadvance Making Your Future S.L., a company incorporated in Spain, assisting Italian and Spanish small/medium sized companies in making investments in and expanding their businesses to foreign markets.

Maurizio is also a lecturer in the Course for Latin American Studies, focusing on the legal systems of Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Chile, at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Padova (Italy). Maurizio is a member of IBA (International Bar Association), Italian Chamber of Commerce in Colombia; he is also an honorary member of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Italy.

Margaret Finlay, Solicitor, Finlay & Co. Solicitors, Dublin. Margaret qualified as solicitor in 1984 and set up in practice in 1988. She has been lecturing and tutoring in the Law School since 1990 primarily in the areas of Conveyancing and Landlord and Tenant and is a frequent contributor to Law Society Diploma courses and CPD events focusing on property related matters.

Bill Holohan, Senior Partner, Holohan Law Solicitors, Cork & Dublin, is a Solicitor, Notary Public, Commissioner for Oaths, CEDR Accredited Mediator & CIARB Accredited Mediator, Accredited Workplace Mediator, Accredited Corporate & Employment Investigator, Arbitrator, Insolvency Practitioner, Trade Mark Agent & European Community Trade Mark Practitioner. He is the co-author of a number of books on insolvency matters including “Bankruptcy Law & Practice”, “Buying & Selling of Insolvent Companies And Businesses”, “Consolidated Bankruptcy & Personal Insolvency Legislation”. He is also the co-author of “Lawyers’ Professional Negligence & Insurance”.

Padraic Courtney, Law Society of Ireland. Padraic qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and has worked for the Law Society’s Law School as a course manager, specialising in Probate and Taxation for over twenty years, and holds the Law Society Diploma in Property Tax. A registered Trust & Estate Practitioner and former Committee member of STEP Ireland, he is also a founding Committee member of SFE Ireland and secretary to the Law Society of Ireland Probate, Administration & Trusts Committee. He has lectured and tutored on Probate & Tax at PPC I & II levels, and has delivered seminars for CPD, Skillnets, the DSBA, LSPT, including the Wills, Probate, Estates & Tax Masterclasses, STEP Ireland and for regional Bar Associations.
