Four Courts turnstile anti-pass back system
The Courts service has advised users of the Four Courts to comply with access requirements.
Protecting security for courts service users
In particular, users are asked to refrain from the practice of 'swiping in' non-access card users. An anti-pass back system was introduced as some card holders were swiping non card holders into the complex who were thus avoiding security screening. This is deemed a serious breach of security and a serious risk to all court users. The Courts Service report that that some barristers and solicitors are avoiding the anti pass back by coming through the gates two at a time, and or bringing clients in with them as they pass through the gates.
The “Anti-pass back system" was agreed and approved by the Courts Service Building Committee which is chaired by Justice Patrick McCarthy, and has representatives from the Bar Council and Law Society.
Practitioners are reminded to observe the agreed protocol in order to ensure that their access rights are preserved
