A vacancy has arisen for a Legal Secretary to join J.F. Williams & Co., small, busy legal practice in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. This is a varied role providing secretarial and administrative support across our practice. The successful candidate will become an important part of our office and will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of legal matters and day-to-day office activities.

Key responsibilities

The role will include:

- Providing secretarial and administrative support to the solicitors in the office;

- Preparing and formatting correspondence, legal documents and other documentation;

- Audio and copy typing;

- Opening, maintaining and organising client files;

- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email and post;

- Liaising with clients by telephone, email and in person in a professional and courteous manner;

- Diary management and arranging appointments;

- Assisting with the preparation of legal documents, files and briefs as required;

- General office administration and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the office; and

- Other administrative and secretarial duties as required.

The successful candidate

Previous experience working as a Legal Secretary is preferred, although consideration will be given to candidates with strong relevant administrative experience.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

- Previous experience in a legal office or similar professional environment;

- Excellent organisational and time-management skills;

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately;

- Excellent typing and IT skills;

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

- A professional, friendly and helpful manner when dealing with clients and colleagues;

- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a small team; and

- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.

- Experience with legal case management systems would be an advantage, but training can be provided where required.
