Law Society marks Mental Health Awareness Week

The Law Society is marking Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from today (5 October), with a range of events and activities for members.

The programme draws on Mental Health Ireland’s ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’.

Talks

It begins today with a talk by Níall Ó Murchu, a Wim Hof Method certified instructor. This breathing technique can be used to reduce stress and anxiety, while releasing tension.

On Tuesday at 7pm, coach Fiona McKeever will talk to the Young Members Committee about how to prevent dips in confidence and how to find your inner confidence.

She will also offer practical tips on how to deal with imposter syndrome, mistakes, and how to put yourself forward for promotions or other opportunities.

On Wednesday at 1pm, AWARE’s director of services Bríd O’Meara will talk about practical tips to manage anxiety levels.

More details on this week's events and how to get involved are available on the Law Society website.

The Society is also encouraging members to influence their firms and ask them to sign up to its Professional Wellbeing Charter.

This commits firms to improving leadership and championing behaviours, skills and practices that promote and enable professional wellbeing at all levels, and across all roles, in the workplace.
