The Law Society President has asked solicitors to give feedback on any issues or problems they have had with the new eLicensing system.
In the latest President’s Bulletin, Michele O’Boyle said that it was understandable that there had been limited feedback so far, as practitioners have been busy with the annual licensing sessions.
The Society has set up a dedicated email address – elicensing@LawSociety.ie – for solicitors to give feedback.
The President also drew solicitors’ attention to a voluntary code of conduct aimed at facilitating discussions between landlords and tenants on commercial rents.
The code, developed by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, is based on examples from other jurisdictions and includes input from other departments, state agencies and key stakeholders.
The code acknowledges that firms are currently experiencing liquidity gaps and debt overhangs.
It sets out that parties should act in good faith and in an honest and transparent manner.
The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has announced that oral hearings in Lansdowne House in Dublin will proceed in the coming weeks subject to continuing public health guidance.
A number of measures to protect service users have been adopted, including a one-way system of entry and exit to the building, use of face coverings, and timely attendance.
Ms O’Boyle asked solicitors to abide by these measures, which she said were designed to keep this crucial arm of the employment law system running safely.
