Tax awards for Matheson, WF and ALG
Irish law firms A&L Goodbody (ALG) and Matheson both emerged as winners at last week’s International Tax Review (ITR) Europe Tax Awards 2026 in London.
ALG won the award for Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year, while Matheson was named Ireland Tax Disputes Firm of the Year.
Meanwhile, William Fry Tax Advisors was named Ireland Indirect Tax Firm of the Year at the ceremony.
The award recognises the excellence of William Fry Tax Advisors' indirect tax practice and acknowledges its work advising domestic and international clients on complex VAT matters, tax disputes and indirect tax transaction related issues.
Department head Sonya Manzor said: "This award reflects the depth of expertise, experience and collaborative approach of our team. We value the trust that our clients place in us in navigating the increasingly complex tax landscape."
Now in its 22nd year, the ITR awards celebrate the most innovative work in tax and transfer pricing, recognising firms that demonstrate technical excellence, client impact, and market leadership.
As well as the firm award, Matheson’s head of partnership tax matters Catherine Galvin (main picture) was also inducted into the Women in Tax Leaders Hall of Fame.
Transfer pricing
ALG partner and head of tax Paul Fahy said that the award was a testament to the depth of expertise across the firm’s tax team and the complex work it delivered for clients.
Transfer pricing has become one of the most significant and high-profile areas of focus for taxpayers and tax authorities in recent years.
It refers to how related companies determine the prices different parts of the business charge each other for goods, services, or intellectual property.
Matheson managing partner Shane Hogan said that his firm’s award was “a testament to the expertise of our people and the strong relationships we have built with our clients”.
He also described Galvin’s award as “richly deserved recognition of her leadership, expertise and contribution to the profession”.
