Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed new partner James Quirke to lead its corporate-tax team in Dublin.
Quirke (main picture) joins from McCann FitzGerald LLP, where he became a partner in 2024.
As well as a solicitor, the new partner is a chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor.
Quirke advises on all aspects of corporate taxation – including mergers and acquisitions, cross-border tax planning, and corporate restructurings.
He also advises on employment-related taxes, tax issues arising in the context of insolvency and property-related matters, and the tax implications of doing business in and from Ireland.
Lisa Carty (head of Pinsent Masons’ Dublin office) said that tax planning and compliance had become increasingly complex in recent years, for both multinational businesses with operations in Ireland and Irish companies conducting business in Ireland and in other countries.
She added that the introduction of the OECD Pillar 2 regime had "raised the stakes" for the firm's clients.
"James’s expertise will be an invaluable support to both domestic clients and those with cross-border corporate structures who are looking to run their organisations compliantly and efficiently,” she stated.
