Finn Kelly joins MHC as tax partner

Business-law firm Mason Hayes & Curran (MHC) has announced three senior appointments across its tax and financial-services teams.

Finn Kelly joins the firm as partner and Susan Lynch is promoted to ‘of counsel’ in the firm's tax practice, while Tara Nestor joins as ‘of counsel’ in debt capital markets.

MHC says that the appointments reflect growing demand for specialist advice as businesses and financial institutions deal with increasing complexity in investment, tax, and disclosure requirements across international markets.

Financing decisions

Managing partner Will Carmody said that clients wanted advisers who understood how tax and regulation shaped financing decisions from the outset.

“Finn, Susan, and Tara each advise in areas where those issues overlap, and their appointments reflect the growing needs of our clients,” he stated.

Tax partner Kelly will advise clients on all aspects of Irish tax, with the main focus on the financial-services sector. He specialises in advising asset managers, investment funds, financial institutions, and aircraft-leasing companies on the tax aspects of their business operations in Ireland.

Cross-border tax structuring

Lynch, who brings more than 30 years’ experience in the ‘Big 4’ firms and in-house to the role, works with Irish and international businesses on a wide range of tax issues, from complex cross-border tax structuring to employee share-incentive schemes.

Nestor, who joins the firm's financial-services team, advises banks and corporates on debt issuance and listed securities. She previously worked for an international law firm across Luxembourg, London, and Dublin.

MHC says that the appointments are the first in a series of promotions across the firm.
