Former barrister and journalist Kieron Wood, who was RTÉ’s first Legal Affairs Correspondent, has died in Dublin.
He had previously been the broadcaster’s Religious Affairs Correspondent.
Kieron Wood qualified as a barrister in 1995, and practised in the area of family law.
He represented the first spouse to obtain a High Court divorce under the 1996 legislation.
As a journalist at RTÉ and the Sunday Business Post, he was honoured several times at the Law Society’s Justice Media Awards, while he also authored a number of books – including (with Alison Cooper) The Kilkenny Incest Case, Family Breakdown: A Legal Guide, The High Court: A User’s Guide, and (with Paul O’Shea) Divorce in Ireland: The Options, the Issues, the Law.
He also contributed occasionally to the Gazette – including a 1998 piece that discussed the then-new technology of email, and whether it would stand up as evidence in court.
