PIAB further postpones medical exams

The Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB) has continued its policy of temporary cancellation of medical examinations, in light of public health restrictions.

Last month, PIAB took the decision to cancel medical examinations arranged for the month of January.

Following further consideration, medical examinations during the month of February have now also been cancelled.

Examinations will be rescheduled at the earliest opportunity with re-arrangement details communicated in the coming weeks.

It is planned that medicals will go ahead in March.

If a claimant has a question about this, they should  contact PIAB.

This does not in any way alter the obligations of claimants to co-operate with independent medical examinations.

Medical reports continue to be ultimately needed to progress any claim and, where required medical information is available, assessment will of course continue.

All doctors on the PIAB medical panel have been following all HSE protocols and guidelines and have developed new ways of working to continue to provide services safely.

Claim applications

PIAB stresses it is continuing to process claim applications and to assess injuries.

During the current period, PIAB requests that customers continue to correspond electronically wherever possible, either by using:

  • Solicitors Portal,
  • Online submission channel, or

By email at enquiries@injuriesboard.ie
