Burges Salmon kickstarts IP practice in Dublin

Burges Salmon has announced a Dublin extension to its IP practice. As part of its continued EU offering post-Brexit, the firm will open a wholly-owned subsidiary office in Dublin, with work on EU trademarks as a central offering.

Two highly experienced trademark lawyers have joined the staff at the Dublin office.

Dual-qualified Irish solicitor and Irish/EU trademark attorney Louise Carey joins the firm from Tomkins.

Contentious

Louise has 30 years’ experience in EU and Irish trademark law across both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters. She has lectured at the Law Society, tutoring on the IP diploma course.

Alison Brennan is a dual-qualified solicitor and trademark attorney with experience advising on contentious and non-contentious trademark matters in the EU and Ireland.

Managing partner Roger Bull said: ”We’re delighted to be cementing our reputation as a strategic player in the European intellectual property market with the opening of a subsidiary office in Dublin.

Portfolio protection

“The launch of our Ireland-based IP practice demonstrates our commitment to the needs of our clients as we continue to represent them on EU trademark matters, and wider intellectual property portfolio protection, in the post-Brexit market.

Jeremy Dickerson (head of Burges Salmon’s IP team) added: ”It’s a very exciting time for Burges Salmon and for the practice. We’re proud to represent a number of high-profile, global brands, and our subsidiary office in Dublin means that we can continue to deliver our market-leading expertise and insight in the EU across a range of industry sectors after the Brexit transition period has ended.”
