Arthur Cox sets out its carbon-negative target

Arthur Cox LLP has committed itself to being carbon-neutral in 2021 and carbon-negative by 2025.

It plans to achieve the first target by investing in certified sustainable sequestration projects that meet the highest ethical and environmental standards.

By 2025 the firm aims to be carbon-negative by supporting domestic sustainable sequestration, land use rehabilitation and biodiversity projects, with a view to removing twice as much carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as it emits.

Sustainable outcomes

“We are committed to sustainable outcomes for our business, people, environment and the communities in which we operate,” said managing partner Geoff Moore.

Arthur Cox has also committed itself to reporting annually on its progress towards the objectives.

Its Sustainable Business Committee has obtained independent audits of the firm’s direct and indirect carbon emissions for 2018 and 2019 and will continue to commission annual independent audits of its carbon footprint.

Among its commitments, Arthur Cox says it will use as much energy as possible from renewable sources and cut carbon from business-related travel.
