Update for Connacht solicitors in Mayo

Law Society Skillnet will host its annual update for solicitors in Connacht next month.

The event will take place in Breaffy House Hotel, Castlebar, Co Mayo on Wednesday 23 September (10am to 5.30pm).

Attendance is worth a total of six CPD hours by group study – 4.08 hours general, 1.17 hours client care and professional standards, and 0.75 hours professional development and solicitor wellbeing.

Networking opportunity

The conference aims to give practitioners an opportunity to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice, with insights from experienced practitioners and expert speakers.

There will also be an opportunity to network with colleagues over lunch and a drinks reception.

Topics include:

  • Law Society Solicitor Services update (practice and career support),
  • Conveyancing developments 2026,
  • Mediation with public bodies,
  • Civil restraining orders,
  • Retirement planning,
  • Social welfare: implications for the legal profession,
  • Legal tech today: the risk of standing still,
  • Probate update, and
  • Family-law update.

President of the Mayo Solicitors’ Bar Association Gary Mulchrone (solicitor, Thomas J Walsh Solicitors) will chair the event.
