Technological University Dublin student Aoife Hegarty has been chosen as winner of the 2026 Law Society Human Rights & Equality Committee (HREC) student-essay competition.
Aoife wins a prize of a one-month paid internship with A&L Goodbody LLP in June, including a stint in the pro bono department, together with a Law Society cash prize of €500.
Aoife Hegarty will attend the Law Society parchment ceremony on Thursday, 28 May in the President’s Hall at 5.30pm.
There, she will be congratulated by HREC chair Cristina Stamatescu, former vice-chair Aine Flynn, and committee members Eithne Lynch (ALG partner and head of pro bono), and Dr Shane McCarthy.

The ALG summer internships annually attract hundreds of applicants.
