Chair of building-disputes body re-appointed
Solicitor Bernard Gogarty is to serve a second term as chair of the Construction Contracts Adjudication Panel after being re-appointed by the Government.
His re-appointment, which follows an open competition conducted by the Public Appointments Service, takes effect on 10 August.
A solicitor with extensive experience in dispute resolution, he has served as panel chair since July 2021.
The panel of adjudicators was provided for by the Construction Contracts Act 2013, which was aimed at settling payment disputes in the construction sector.

“Bernard brings the expertise, experience, and leadership required to continue leading the panel over the next five years,” said Alan Dillon (Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment).
Since 2022, Gogarty has appointed adjudicators to 342 payment disputes with a combined value of €178 million.
A UCD graduate, he qualified as a solicitor in Ireland in 1979 and in the North in 1992.
He became a partner with Smyth & Son Solicitors in 1984 and is currently a consultant with the firm.
The solicitor has also served as a consultant to the Law Society's Arbitration and Mediation Committee.
