New head of Pinsent Masons’ tax team

Pinsent Masons has hired tax partner Robert Dever to lead and develop its tax-law practice in Dublin.

The multi-national law firm says that his appointment will also strengthen its European transactional-services group.

Dever joins Pinsent Masons from Eversheds Sutherland, where he was a partner in the tax group.

His experience includes advising large domestic and multi-national corporations on all aspects of corporate tax.

'Highly regarded’

Ann Lalor (head of Pinsent Masons’ Dublin office) described Dever as “a highly regarded tax lawyer with a wealth of experience and expertise in the Irish market”.

“He will play a key role in developing our tax-law practice in Ireland, and his addition to our team will enhance our ability to provide a seamless multi-jurisdictional tax-advisory service to our clients on complex and cross-border transactions,” she added.

Dever said that he looked forward to building the firm’s Irish tax practice and working across its network to provide “innovative and commercial tax solutions” to clients.

His appointment follows further appointments in Pinsent Masons’ Dublin office last year.

Partners Maureen Daly and Conor Durkin joined in November to lead the intellectual-property and funds teams, respectively, and financial-services litigation expert Lisa Carty joined in May to lead the litigation practice.
