Matheson names Beashel as new London chief

Matheson has appointed Joe Beashel as the new head of its 25-strong office in London.

The firm says that Beashel will continue to work as a partner in its financial-institutions group, and to service his existing clients in Ireland and Britain.

Michael Jackson (managing partner, Matheson) described the appointment as “further evidence of our commitment to growing our business and to enhancing our offering to our clients in the UK and across Europe”.

Sharon Daly, who has headed the London office for the past five years, has been appointed as a consultant to the firm.

Regulatory engagement

Beashel joined Matheson in 2004, having previously been CEO of the Irish subsidiary of an international financial-services company.

He helped to establish Matheson's regulatory-risk team, originally as part of the asset-management department.

He advises many leading international and domestic financial institutions on all aspects of regulatory engagement and risk.

Beashel's appointment follows the recent arrival of Rory Mullarkey as a partner in the firm's corporate practice in London.
