Geoff Moore to serve second term at Arthur Cox

Law firm Arthur Cox has re-appointed its managing partner Geoff Moore to serve a second four-year term, starting in November 2023.

Moore has served in the role since 2019, and has been a partner at the firm since 2007.

Before his current role, he was co-head of Arthur Cox’s corporate and mergers-and-acquisitions (M&A) group, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, and strategic advisory work for companies.

‘Dramatic changes’

The firm says that Moore's tenure as managing partner has straddled Brexit, the COVID pandemic, the rise of ESG (environmental, social and governance) and “dramatic changes” in ways of working adopted by the firm and its clients.

It adds that his new term coincides with the rise of AI, record planned investment in energy-transition and climate-change measures, and increased regulation and reporting across all sectors.

Moore (48) is from Cork, graduated from UCC in 1996 and holds an MLitt from TCD. He joined Arthur Cox as a trainee in 1998, left for two years to work in the corporate-finance group of a leading New York firm, and returned to the firm, being made a partner in 2007.

Investment

Orla O’Connor (chair of Arthur Cox) said that Moore’s “strong emphasis on investment in people” left Arthur Cox optimally positioned for continuing growth.

Moore described his first term as managing partner as “a roller-coaster four years”.

“My next four years will be about continued investment in our client services and people to support and capitalise on emerging challenges and opportunities in areas like climate change, AI and ever-changing capital markets,” he stated.
