This year’s Corn Adomnáin International Humanitarian Law (IHL) competition takes place on Saturday, 2 April, at University College Cork.
The competition takes its name from the Cáin Adomnáin, or the Law of Innocents, an early example of IHL in Ireland.
It is a simulation-based experiential-learning competition, convened by the Irish Red Cross, and designed to provide law students with an opportunity to engage with IHL on a practical level.
During the one-day competition, participants will engage in a variety of practical role-playing exercises, during which they will be asked to assume various professional roles, and accomplish various field tasks.
Finalists will then take part in a moot court.
Teams from the Law Society of Ireland have won the competition twice in the last five years. Those interested in entering should contact studentadvisor@lawsociety.ie by 9am on Monday, 28 March.
