Prof Suzanne Kingston to be judge in Luxembourg

Professor Suzanne Kingston SC of UCD’s Sutherland School of Law has been named as a judge of the General Court of the European Union.

The senior counsel has been a faculty member at UCD since 2007 and since 2015 has led a major European Research Council project which will shortly be reaching a conclusion.

Sworn in

Prof Kingston will be officially sworn in in mid-January.

The Court of Justice of the European Union consists of two courts: the Court of Justice and the General Court 

The judges and advocates-general are appointed by the governments of the member states after consultation with a panel responsible for giving an opinion on prospective candidates' suitability.
