The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission has announced the 28 organisations to which it will be dispersing funds this year.

A total of €350,000 will be awarded under the IHREC human rights and equality grants scheme.

Now in its fourth year, the grant programme will award sums between €6,000 and €20,000 to support “civil society organisations” promoting the development of economic and social rights.

There were 112 applications for the grants.

Recipients

Blanchardstown Traveller Development Group, the National Women’s Council of Ireland, Transgender Equality Network, the Laois Traveller Action Group, the Migrant Rights Centre and a co Monaghan Somali outreach group are all among the grant recipients this year.

The AMAL women’s Muslim group will research “the barriers faced by Muslim women in accessing maternity services in Ireland”.
