Tools and tactics for dealing with sexual violence

The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) is inviting applications for a 12-day training course which will run from November 2019 until February 2020.

Entitled ‘Sexual Violence: The Therapeutic Process’ this in-depth programme is provided for counsellors and psychotherapists who wish to enhance their understanding and skills in working with adolescent and adult clients who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault or sexual harassment.

It is run in six two-day modules on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Specialised areas

The programme is designed to enhance and develop the existing knowledge, understanding and skills of participants and to allow those working in specialised areas, such as addiction, to feel equipped to deal with issues of sexual violence appropriately.

The training is also relevant to other types of trauma and deals with tools for maintaining the counsellor or psychotherapist’s own well-being.

The cost is €1,195 with a non-refundable deposit of €195 payable immediately.
