Details of event

This is the next step in our extensive consultation process, and it is the opportunity to bring people together in order to listen to their views and garner their insight and expertise in relation to the profession.

The event will be focussed on enabling participants to have open and honest dialogue about the profession, the challenges and opportunities on the horizon, and importantly, how the Law Society can best serve its members as we face the future.

The Director General, Mark Garrett, and President of the Law Society, Maura Derivan, will provide context and background for the discussions on the evening. A lead facilitator from Genesis, the firm we have appointed to assist us, will then introduce topics for conversation.

Participants will be seated at tables of 10 people each and discussions will take place in these smaller groups. Each table will also have its own facilitator to assist in the conversation, clarify any issues, and also to capture key themes emerging.

At the end of each ‘conversation theme’ (usually lasting about 20-30 minutes), a plenary summary is held, where a representative from each table shares with the room what was discussed including the key conclusions and implications.

The findings from this event, in addition to other workstreams, will be used to assist formulation of the Law Society’s 2024 strategic plan.

Canapies will be served from 5.30pm, with the meeting running from 6.30 to 9pm. We hope to see you on 28 June.
