Ahead of the 25 September nomination deadline for the Law Society Council, hear from current Council members on what's involved.

Insight from current members

The Aug/Sept Gazette features an interview with long-serving Council member Chris Callan and Fiona McNulty, who joined in 2023, about what being a Council member entails and why you might wish to put yourself forward.

You can also hear from Council member Kate McKenna and IT Committee Chair Peter McKenna who spoke earlier this month about the importance of having a diverse representative Council and how to run.

Nomination deadline

Nominations for the Council Election close at 5pm on 25 September. Any member of the Law Society is eligible to stand and must be nominated by two current members. For the first time, nominations need to be submitted through the Law Society website. As well as saving paper and time, it’s secure and very straightforward as you can see in the short video guide below. You just need your solicitor login details and make sure your Law Society membership is up-to-date.
