  • The Professional Indemnity Insurance Committee of the Law Society has published a Practice Note, In-House Solicitors and Pro Bono Work. In the Practice Note, the Committee affirms that in-house solicitors in the private and public sectors who wish to carry out pro-bono work should ensure that they meet their statutory regulatory requirements.   • The transposition deadline for the EU Copyright Directive is fast approaching. In the latest Gazette, Dr Mark Hyland warns that only a handful of member states are likely to meet the deadline.   • A global survey published by William Fry has found that for today’s decision makers, the most important driver for international organisations looking to locate data-related investments in the EU is the data-related regulatory regime. 93% believe data-driven investment in Ireland is possible or likely in the next 18 months.   • A new Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy is now available for solicitors’ workplaces. Developed by the Irish Centre for Diversity, solicitors can adopt and adapt this policy to help improve and promote gender equality, diversity and inclusion within their organisations and the wider solicitors’ profession.   • The 2021 In-House and Public Sector Annual Conference will take place online on 14 October 2021. Presentations will explore working from home / hybrid working and arbitration / jurisdictional clauses, followed by an interactive panel discussion with panel members from both the private and public sectors.
