The Jan/Feb 2024 Gazette is now online. This issue covers a range of topics, including changes to the Fair Deal Scheme, expert witnesses and historic disclosures.
The first liability date for Residential Zoned Land Tax (RZLT), originally due to take effect from 1 February 2024, has been deferred to 1 February 2025.
The Injuries Resolution Board (IRB) has introduced a mediation service for employer liability claims. The service will be based by telephone, with the mediator listening to all parties through a series of separate calls aiming to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
Solicitors are invited to have their say on the Law Society's Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) Strategy in one of two workshops. The workshops for solicitors will take place online through Zoom on Monday, 19 February 2024, at two different time slots to facilitate attendees.

Training
On 1 May 2024 the In-house and Public Sector Committee and Law Society Professional Training will host the annual in-house Panel Discussion. It will be held at the Law Society from 2 pm to 4.30 pm, and will be an excellent opportunity for in-house solicitors in the private and public sectors to meet their colleagues in-person. The theme will be ‘Innovating and Leading in Transformative Times’. Details, including the Brochure and Booking Form, will be available on the Society’s website in the coming month.
