Organised by Law Society Skillnet in association with the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association, the Practice and Regulation Symposium is part of a series of specialised training events designed to support local solicitors in communities throughout Ireland to upskill on topics related to legal practice.

President of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association, Matthew Kenny, said, “We were thrilled to welcome our colleagues to our 2023 conference. Almost 130 Dublin-based solicitors attended the event to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to practice.

“The conference offered local solicitors a valuable opportunity away from their busy practices to stay informed, network with colleagues and gain insights to enhance their expertise in a collaborative environment. Together, the Law Society and the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association are dedicated to advancing the knowledge and professional growth of our legal practitioners.”

AI and legal practice

“The conference provided attendees with a chance to learn about of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). In the swiftly evolving legal landscape, understanding, and discussing AI is crucial as it continues to shape industries and create opportunities that may impact lawyers whether they are in-house, with a smaller practice or a large firm.

“The Law Society’s recent member survey results revealed that 23% of respondents believe that AI is a key area of expected growth and will substantially impact the practice of law. It is crucial for legal practitioners to be aware of AI and its ability to impact processes and provide data-driven insights,” explained Mr Kenny.

“Thanks to the Practice Symposium 2023, Dublin solicitors are now up to date on major practice issues including attracting and retaining legal trainees, practice viability, and AI.
