The Law Society has said solicitors will need to take account of a shutdown later this month of the CORE platform used by the Companies Registration Office (CRO).

The CRO’s new CORE customer portal is due to go live on 16 December. As part of the process, however, the existing CORE platform will be shut down while the CRO transitions to its new IT system. The transition begins on 11 December.

Significant impact

Law Society President James Cahill said this shutdown would have a significant impact on security and other filings, and practitioners would need to factor this in when undertaking or closing transactions on behalf of clients.

The cut-off date for receipt of signature pages is 7 December and the cut-off date for receipt of electronically signed C1, C1A, C1B, F8, F8A and F8Bs is 10 December.

The Society’s Business Law and the Conveyancing Committees had raised queries about the launch with the CRO. The response from Registrar Maureen O'Sullivan (small picture) contains additional guidance on security filings and information about the benefits of the new portal.
