Maples Group hires new financial services partner

Maples and Calder (Ireland) LLP has appointed Lorna Smith as a partner in its financial services regulatory practice. She joins the firm having previously worked at two other large Irish law practices, in addition to a big four accountancy firm.

Smith is a member of the Council of the Fintech and Payments Association of Ireland, and co-chair of its Regulatory Insights Group.

She is also a member of the Association of Compliance Officers of Ireland and Irish Funds. She will work alongside regulatory partners, Stephen Carty and Philip Keegan, and regulatory executive Alison Gibney to grow the firm’s Irish financial-services regulatory practice.

Transparency

Managing partner Nicholas Butcher said: “Lorna’s arrival reflects the surge in client demand for regulatory advice as regulators demand greater transparency and enhanced reporting.”

The Maples Group has a global footprint of 18 offices worldwide. Its European offices in Dublin, Jersey, London, Luxembourg and the Netherlands continue to grow.
