California Bar Association webinar on ‘big-tech’ enforcement

Two prominent Irish lawyers will speak at a webinar organised by the International Law Section (ILA) of the Californian Bar Association later this month.

The tie-up is a result of a Law Society Friendship Agreement, signed in July with the US organisation. Part of the agreement is to contribute towards webinars.

Members urged to sign up

The chair of the Law Society’s EU and International Affairs Committee, Cormac Little (pictured) will moderate the free one-hour event on 30 November, while Vincent Power (A&L Goodbody) will be one of three speakers. He will be joined by two American speakers.

Members of the Law Society are encouraged to sign up for the event, which will examine how the US reacts to big-tech enforcement by the EU.

Ireland is home to the EU headquarters of many tech companies with origins in Silicon Valley, California.

This seminar will compare and contrast European (including EU) and US action and inaction vis-à-vis major tech companies.

The discussions will focus on how cases evolve in the relevant jurisdictions, and where enforcement trends converge and/or diverge.

The speakers will also gaze into their respective ‘crystal balls’ and speculate on how rules enforcement is likely to develop in the coming months and years.
