Centre for Digital Ethics to hold TCD seminar
The Centre for Digital Ethics will hold a discussion on the theme ‘The Human in Human Rights: Dignity, Autonomy and Democracy in the Age of AI’ at Trinity Long Room Hub, Trinity College Dublin, on the evening of Friday 16 October.
Mary Robinson will deliver the opening address, with Miriam O’Callaghan moderating the evening.
Professor Stuart Russell will also provide a video contribution.

- Professor Jennifer Edmond, Professor in Digital Humanities at TCD,

- David Hickton, former US attorney and founding director of University of Pittsburgh Institute for Cyber Law, Policy, and Security.
Public policy
Organisers statte that the premise of the evening is broader than AI regulation alone but will examine the fundamental question of what, ultimately, are law and public policy seeking to protect.
The discussion will examine what increasingly AI-mediated societies mean for human dignity, autonomy, agency, fundamental rights, and democratic participation, before examining practical legal, regulatory, and policy responses that may be required.
