Caitríona (Kate) de Búrca has been appointed as chief executive of Property Services Regulatory Authority (PSRA) for a five-year term.
She will take up the position with the regulator on 22 October, replacing Maeve Hogan, who has headed the body for the past 11 years.
The PSRA is responsible for licensing and regulating the property-services sector in Ireland.
Professions covered by the authority include estate agents, auctioneers, letting agents, and management agents.
De Búrca has spent several years working in both the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform, and Digitalisation, and in the Pensions Authority.
Before working as a civil servant, she was an associate director in the Sherry FitzGerald Group.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne said that her background experience in the property sector would serve her well in the new role.
PRSA chair Michael Quinlan also welcomed the appointment.
