Webinar on solicitors’ sanctions obligations

The Central Bank, in collaboration with the Law Society’s AML unit, is hosting a free webinar later this month to update solicitors on EU restrictive measures and sanctions.

The session, worth 1.5 CPD hours, takes place on Thursday 26 November (11am to 12pm).

It will cover obligations linked to EU sanctions that are relevant to the legal profession, alongside an overview of current compliance challenges.

Participants will also be given an insight into circumvention typologies – methods used to bypass the measures – that are particularly relevant to legal practitioners.

Opportunity for questions

The speakers are:

  • Vivian Meacham (financial-sanctions manager, enforcement directorate, Central Bank),
  • Andy Brennan (detective sergeant, money-laundering investigation unit, Garda National Economic Crime Bureau),
  • Ian Foley (deputy director, compliance and enforcement in the Trade Compliance and Responsible Business Unit, Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment), and
  • Maeve O’Malley (principal officer in the High Wealth and Financial Services Division, Revenue).

The webinar will conclude with a question-and-answer session, providing an opportunity to raise questions directly with all participating agencies.

The event requires registration.
