Donna O’Leary to head Newcode’s Irish arm

AI consultant Donna O’Leary, a former solicitor at Mason Hayes & Curran LLP, has been appointed director and head of Newcode AI Ireland.

O’Leary founded an AI consultancy in April 2025, after identifying a growing need for practical AI literacy and upskilling within the legal profession and other regulated sectors.

She is also a lecturer at the Law Society.

Newcode says that its agentic AI platform enables organisations to run “intelligent, auditable, and context-aware workflows”.

Expansion

Agentic AI refers to autonomous systems that can think, plan, and act independently to achieve complex, multi-step goals.

Newcode says that O’Leary’s appointment marks the next stage of its expansion in Dublin, with plans to fill 30 roles by the end of the year.

Its initial focus is on the legal sector in Ireland, with plans also to offer wider AI solutions to finance, insurance, banking, and the public sector in due course.

Legal market’s ‘energy’

“I’m excited to build and lead a team that reflects the energy of the Irish legal market, while harnessing the incredible local talent we have here,” said O’Leary.

“I look forward to scaling the business here and adding to our rapidly growing roster of clients, while continuing to advocate for AI literacy within the legal profession,” she added.

Newcode founder and chief executive Maged Helmy described the solicitor as “an ideal fit”, due to her strong grounding in law and established expertise in AI.
