Arachas event acts as Calcutta Run warm-up

A combined team from DLA Piper and William Fry emerged victorious at a preparation event for this year’s Calcutta Run hosted by event partner Arachas.

‘Arachas Fittest Firm’ took place in Old Wesley Rugby Club, Donnybrook last week (6 May).

Some of the other ‘Fittest Firm’ contenders included Carson McDowell, Eversheds Sutherland, and Matheson.

The Calcutta Run 2026 is an annual event for the legal profession that aims to raise €300,000 for the Law Society’s charity partners, Dublin Simon Community and the Hope Foundation.

Last year, over 2,000 people raised €325,000 by taking part in Calcutta Run events across the country.

Julie Galbraith (chief business officer and general counsel, Arachas) described the evening as a “fun and important event”.

Among the top coaches taking part in the event was Olympian and world champion Sonia O’Sullivan, who will be part of the Arachas team for the Calcutta Run, which takes place in Dublin and Cork on Saturday 23 May and in Galway on Sunday 24 May.
