Pexip upgrade on Monday for remote hearings

The Government this week (24 March) made the decision to assign:

  • Judge Adrian Harris to District No 12 (Counties Clare and Galway) with immediate effect,
  • Judge Áine Shannon to the Dublin Metropolitan District (DMD) with immediate effect,
  • Judge Michael Ramsey to the Dublin Metropolitan District (DMD) with immediate effect.

Secondly, legal practitioners are reminded that all remote and hybrid hearings will use new Pexip Infinity Virtual Meeting Rooms (VMRs) from Monday, 30 March.

Solicitors should refer to the Law Society website for updated courtroom and judicial VMR links and conference IDs.

Operational upgrade

As this is merely an operational upgrade the authorisation process for remote attendance remains unchanged, and participants must continue to obtain the court’s permission to attend remotely.

Solicitor information and training webinars are also planned for next term.

A Statement of Truth CPD webinar will take place at 9.15 am on Friday, 24 April.

The 40-minute webinar will introduce the Statement of Truth, the online affidavit, its purpose, legal standing and how solicitors should use it.

The Courts Service said that the Statement of Truth is new for Ireland, and it is  important for solicitors to understand how it enables online filing.

Solicitors are encouraged to log on to https://portal.courts.ie/ to become familiar with the portal.
