Update for Leitrim solicitors this month

Law Society Skilllnet is holding its annual update for Leitrim practitioners on Thursday 25 June at the Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim (10am to 5.30pm).

The event is being organised in partnership with Leitrim Bar Association, Longford Bar Association, Roscommon Bar Association, and Sligo Solicitors’ Bar Association.

The training and education event provides an opportunity for practitioners to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice.

The aim is to offer practitioners a practical update in relevant areas from experienced practitioners and expert speakers. There will also be an opportunity to network with colleagues.

CPD hours

Attendance is worth six CPD hours by group study.

Topics include:

  • Conveyancing (Combined Building Agreements),
  • Tailte Éireann,
  • The Law Society and the profession,
  • Solicitors’ accounts,
  • Tax clearances,
  • Personal-injury litigation: Affidavits of truth,
  • Assisted decision-making, and
  • Costs.

  • Caroline McLaughlin (President, Sligo Solicitors’ Bar Association),
  • Joe Thomas (partner, O'Reilly Thomas LLP),
  • Frank Wall (examiner of titles, Tailte Éireann),
  • Rosemarie Loftus (President, Law Society),
  • Garry Clarke (partner, Lanigan Clarke Solicitors LLP),
  • James Finn (legislation and rules unit, Courts Service), and
  • Áine Hynes SC (partner, St John Solicitors, chair of Mental Health and Capacity Task Force, and member of Law Society Litigation Committee).
