Governor of New York Kathy Hochul will be among the keynote speakers at the 2026 Ireland for Law New York City business mission.
The mission was launched yesterday (24 June) by recently appointed Ireland for Law chair and former taoiseach Enda Kenny.
The mission will promote Ireland as a global hub for international legal services, and takes place from 8-10 September.
Kenny will lead the delegation, accompanied by Attorney General Rossa Fanning SC and President of the High Court Mr Justice David Barniville.
Eight events
The three-day itinerary features eight major events across the city that are designed to showcase the depth, capability, and competitive advantages of the Irish legal profession to US corporations, general counsel, and law firms.
Event hosts include BDO Finance, Forward Global, Dechert LLP, and the Fordham University School of Law. Mission partners include Ireland for Finance, the New York City Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and several of Ireland’s leading law-firm partners and senior members of the Bar of Ireland.
“As the only English-speaking common-law jurisdiction in the European Union, the business case for Irish law is clear,” said Kenny.
‘National asset’
“Ireland offers a strong, trusted, and stable legal framework, and our legal profession is uniquely placed to support international business,” he added.
“Our legal system is a core national asset, adding over €6.7 billion to our economy annually. By deepening relationships with key international partners in New York, we are securing Ireland's global competitiveness and driving future growth,” he concluded.
