Solicitor Maura Connolly granted SC title

The Government has granted Patents of Precedence to 18 lawyers, allowing them to use the title of Senior Counsel (SC).

The list includes one solicitor – Maura Connolly, who heads Addleshaw Goddard’s employment team in Ireland.

She is also a member of the Law Society Employment and Equality Law Committee.

Advisory committee

Patents of Precedence, which recognise legal skills and expertise, are granted under the terms of the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015 by the Government, on the advice of an advisory committee.

The committee consists of:

  • Chief Justice,
  • President of Court of Appeal, 
  • President of High Court, 
  • Attorney General, 
  • Bar Council chair, 
  • President of Law Society, and 
  • Lay member of Legal Services Regulatory Authority nominated by the Minister for Justice.
