Younger members’ conference for Cork
The Law Society’s Younger Members Committee (YMC) will hold its annual conference in Cork next month.
The event takes place at the Imperial Hotel on Wednesday 9 September (4-6pm).
Two CPD hours are available – one general and one for professional development and solicitor wellbeing.
Entitled ‘Future practice: The younger member’s roadmap’, the event is presented in partnership with Law Society Professional Training.
Career progression
It aims to provide younger solicitors with insights into ‘young solicitors as the future of law’ – including sessions on career progression, and perspectives on careers within the general practice and in-house sectors.
Topics include:
- Career progression,
- Different types of career path,
- Advancing in your chosen career path,
- An insight into recruitment from the perspective of a large recruitment agency, and
- A question-and-answer session with the panel.
Committee member Genevive Lynch will chair the conference.
The speakers include:
- Fiona McNulty (partner, Mason Hayes & Curran),
- Caroline Looney (principal solicitor, public procurement, CSSO),
- Clare O'Shea O'Neill (Cork County Registrar),
- Sorcha Hayes (head of practice regulation, Law Society), and
- Cailim Boyle (director of legal, Hunter Savage).
